Install Deluge on CentOS 6

For those of you who didn’t know, Deluge is a popular multi-platform bittorrent client often used to provide torrenting / seedbox functionality on Linux servers. Like rTorrent, deluge uses libtorrent as its backend. Supported by daemon-service, awesome interface, and great plugin support, Deluge surpass Transmission and rTorrent for functionality.

This article assumes you have at least basic knowledge of linux, know how to use the shell, and most importantly, you host your site on your own VPS. The installation is quite simple. I will show you through the step by step installation deluge bittorrent client on CentOS 6.

Step 1. Install Deluge from repositories.

Deluge not available on primary repo, we need add linuxtech repo to our repo library:

and paste the following:

Next, of all make sure that all packages are up to date:

Now we can install deluge and all necessities with Yum:

Step 2. Configure Deluge.

First check if deluge user already exist, if not add it:

Next, we need to edit some line at deluge init script:

find this line:

Start Deluge service:

Step 3. Accessing Deluge.

Deluge will be available on HTTP port 8112 by default. Open your favorite browser and navigate to http://yourdomain.com:8112 or http://server-ip:8112.  The default password for deluge is deluge, better change it when you are first to login.
